파리의 친환경오피스 건축 ‘PUSHED SLAB’…

뒤틀어진 슬래브로 다이내믹한 건축매스, 높은 에너지 효율과 경제적인 현실성, 질이 건축 조합을 통해 친환경설계 구현

MVRDV가 최근 프랑스 파리에 디자인한 푸시드 슬래브(Pushed Slab)는 창의적인 오피스 프로그램과 태양열 전지판과 친환경 설계로 에너지 효율을 높인 건물이다.

남쪽의 느슨한 도시 구조와 북쪽의 밀집된 구역 사이에 위치하며 건물 앞으로는 약 4,000m²의 이전의 철도 제방이 지나간다. 150m의 길이와 21m의 넓이로 구성된 건물은 옆으로 기다란 직방체로 한 가운데가 개방된 구조를 취하고 있다. 계획된 모형에서 잘 나타나듯 건축 개념은 악력을 가해 모형에 힘을 가하는 행위에서 출발한다.

이러한 미는 방식을 통해 업무공간뿐만 아니라 외부계단에서 바로 접근이 가능한 다양하고 넓은 테라스 공간이 생겨난다. 건물의 각각의 층에 조성된 테라스에는 대형 화분이 심어져 있고 발코니는 직원들의 휴식공간으로 활용됨으로써 전체적으로 질 좋은 건물 환경을 제공한다. 건물 중심을 관통하는 커다란 빈공간은 오래된 건물의 조망감을 높여주고 남쪽으로 부러지고 뒤틀어진 슬래브는 다이내믹한 건축 매스와 도시의 질을 높여주고 있다.

슬래브의 중앙 부분을 열려놓음으로써 절적할 조도와 환기에 적합하고 친환경지역의 핵심 설계요건을 충족시키고 있다. 내부공간은 세 개의 코어와 중앙 로비를 효율적으로 제공하며 이것은 구조의 변형 없이 하나 또는 여러 세입자가 임대하여 사용한다. 개인 사무공간과 테라스, 발코니, 정원과 같은 외부 공간에 입증된 에너지 효율 기술을 결합하였다.

건물은 차분한 도시구조의 면모를 엿볼 수 있는 파리의 북쪽과 직방체의 역동적인 매스로 디자인된 남쪽 구역의 두 개의 면으로 구현된다. 전체적인 외부 마감은 따뜻한 질감의 목재와 리드미컬한 띠를 형성하는 창으로 구성된다. 길게 띠를 형성하는 창문은 건물 내부로 자연광을 적절히 스며들게 만든다. 목재는 지속가능한 개발과 벌목의 영향을 참작하기 위해 FSC인증 목재가 사용되었다.

MVRDV의 공동창립자이자 총괄 건축가인 Winy Maas는 “퍼시드 슬래브는 높은 에너지 효율, 경제적인 현실성, 건축적 질이 조합된 모범적인 건축이라며 ICADE라는 야심찬 고객의 장기적인 비전을 갖고 시작되었다”고 밝힌다. 또한, 건축가는 “전체적인 조망권을 보존하기 위한 추가적인 요구는 프로젝트에 특별한 모양을 주었고, 이것은 지금 주변의 이웃들을 존중하고 집단적인 의미의 중요성을 가진다”고 덧붙였다.

퍼시드 슬래브는 파리의 첫 번째 Eco-quarter를 실현한 친환경 오피스건물이다. 지붕의 264개 태양광 패널은 90 MW의 생산성을 가지고 중수도시설도 적용되었다. 22개의 태양열 수집기는 물이 데워지기 위한 에너지의 45%를 생산한다. 태양광 블라인드는 남쪽의 외관과 단면에 통합되어 있다. 건물은 열교 현상을 감소시키기 위해 외부로부터 절연된다. 년간 46KW 의 에너지 소비에 이르는 고효율 에너지 건축기술의 축적은 입증되어 신뢰할 수 있고, BBC Effinergie 에너지 라벨을 달성하고 파리시의 기후계획에 규정된 목적을 준수하고 있다. The Pushed Slab is located between two completely different urban grids: the dense city fabric of blocks and streets in the North and the loose urban fabric in the south with its clear defined and straightforward infrastructure. The design is based on the requested office program and the energy requirements. The project combines proven energy efficiency technologies with individual office floors and outside spaces such as patios, balconies and a garden. The building is highly flexible offering three cores and a central lobby; it can be rented out to one or various tenants without structural changes. The building is located on a former rail embankment of approximately 4.000m².

The volume follows the site restrictions, a slab shaped volume of 150 m long and 21 m wide. An opening in the volume preserves the view of a historic building. To create this urban window and to enhance the urban quality of the neighbourhood, the slab is “pushed” until it breaks, then twisted and pushed to the south. This pushing act creates a distortion of the floors, offering multiple terraces which can be directly accessed from the work areas as well as from the external staircases. The urban window offers a large terrace on the second level. The terrace and the balconies are furnished with trees planted in large pots, offering employees a friendly environment to relax.

The building has two faces: a calm side in dialogue with the urban fabric of the north side of Paris, and a more dynamic side facing south, rectangular to the boulevard. The building is wrapped in a skin of wood. The windows form a rhythmic ribbon, offering optimal sun and light control of the inner spaces. To contribute to the sustainable development and taking the impact of deforestation into account, FSC certified wood is used. Winy Maas, principal architect and co-founder of MVRDV, says “Pushed slab is an exemplary combination of high energy efficiency, economic reality and architectural quality. This emerged from an ambitious client, ICADE, and a city with a long term vision.

The added demand of a preserved view line gave the project its exciting shape, it now respects the surrounding neighbors and it opens up its heart for a collective meaning”. The “Pushed Slab” is the first realization of Paris’ first eco-quarter. 264 photovoltaic panels on the roof will generate 90 MW/year and a grey water circuit will be applied. 22 solar thermal collectors will generate 45% of the energy needed to heat the water. Sun blinds are integrated in the south facade and in the cuts. The building is insulated from the outside in order to reduce thermal bridges.

The accumulation of these proven reliable techniques results in a highly efficient low-energy building which leads to an energy consumption of 46 kWh per m²/year achieving a BBC Effinergie energy label and complying with the objectives set out in the “Plan Climat de la ville de Paris”. The building is designed by MVRDV in cooperation with local architect North by North West, in a joint effort with the engineering and advisory firms Arcoba (Saint Denis), Terrell, Vanguard, Alto and contractor Eiffage Construction, and interior design firm Métope Architects on behalf of Banque Populaire.
