14개의 층으로 엇갈려 쌓은 고층 주거 공간의 매력

레바논의 베이루트를 상징하는 혁신 주거의 아이콘, 더 큐브(The Cube)… 14개 층들이 엇갈리며 적층되어 형성된 21개의 매력적인 평면

더 큐브는 레바논 베이루트에 동쪽 지역인 신엘필 지구에 자리한 혁신적인 고층 아파트이다. 레바논 개발회사인 마샤리가 개발하고 오렌지 아키텍츠가 디자인한 이 고층 주거 건물은 50m 높이에 지중해의 멋진 풍경을 담아내고 있다.

더 큐브가 고층 주거건물의 새로운 가능성을 열어주고 있고 있다고 평가되는 이유는 무엇보다 똑같은 평면을 추구하기 보다는 개별적인 상자들을 층별로 합리적으로 적층시켜 각 개별 세대별로 베이루트 도시 전망을 차별화 있게 제공하였다는 점이다. 잘리고 오픈되어 12m로 넓게 개방된 파노라마식 창문을 통해 거주자들은 저마다의 멋진 풍경을 감상할 수 있다. 각각의 층에는 1개 또는 2개의 세대가 입주한다. 한 층에 단일로 구성된 세대에서는 360도로 파노라마 방식으로 베이루트의 도시 경관을 감상할 수 있다는 점이 특별하다. 14개의 층들이 엇갈리게 적층된 저마다의 평면은 총 21개의 매력적인 세대를 구성한다. 그 규모는 117m²에서 234m²까지 다양하며 제법 커다란 발코니와 개방된 창문 프레임을 포함한다.

건물의 중심부에 고정된 코어로 엘리베이터와 계단 덕택에 각 세대의 평면 구성은 특별한 제약이 없다. 바닥은 코어에서부터 파사드까지 길게 뻗어있고, 각 층에는 지지해주는 두 개의 콘크리트 거더와 두 개의 파노라믹한 창문 프레임이 있다. 교차되는 거더와 코어 둘 다 타워를 안정화시켜 주는 역할을 맡는다.

일정부분 절개되고 하얗게 코팅된 거더벽은 건물의 외부와 내부에 강렬한 인상을 심어주는 장치이다. 차고는 지하와 인접한 언덕에 마련되어 있다. 1층의 로비와 리셉션 영역은 캔틸레버로 구성되며 더 큐브만의 독특한 입구를 형성한다. 이렇듯 더 큐브만의 혁신적인 아이콘은 베이루트 도시를 상징하는 특별한 주거공간으로 관심을 끌어 모으기에 충분하다. ANN
