쿠알라룸푸르의 부킷 판타이 레지던스_OOZN 프로젝트

말레이시아 쿠알라룸푸르의 주거용 파빌리온 ‘부킷 판타이 레지던스’(Bukit Pantai Residence)

커튼을 연상시키는 접히고 굴곡진 알루미늄 패브릭의 경쾌함이 돋보여

부킷 판타이 레지던스는 말레이시아 쿠알라룸푸르의 남서쪽 방사지역(Bangsar)에 자리한 주거용 파빌리온이다. 건물의 외관은 물결치는 기하학적인 형태로 사뭇 색다르게 다가온다.

집이 들어선 KL지역은 1960년대부터 들어서 있었던 개인적인 모던한 빌라들로 채워져 있었다. 경사진 산비탈을 배경으로 들어선 집은 주변 환경을 새롭게 재구성하고 활성화시키고 있다. 도로와 마주한 북측 입면은 마을을 향해 환상적인 입면을 연출한다. 현대 예술과 디자인 수집가인 클라이언트는 새롭게 구현된 북측 파빌리온이 기존의 거리 풍경과 조화를 이루는 동시에 자신의 미술 컬렉션의 연장선상으로 보이길 원했다.

외관을 두르고 있는 스킨 소재는 타공된 알루미늄 패브릭으로 마감되었으며 열대의 뜨거운 열기로부터 내부를 보호해주기에 충분하다. 파빌리온의 입구는 도로로부터 거주자의 프라이버시를 보호하는 나무들이 줄지어 서 있는 잔디마당 위로 3.5m 높이 떠 있다. 재료와 형태, 반사율과 조경이 조화된 파빌리온은 언뜻 보기에 대지 위에 떠 있는 모습이다. 이러한 저층부의 비움을 통해 한층 떠 있는 경쾌한 상승효과는 밤이 되면 외부 조명을 받아 더욱 두드러진다.

여기에 더해 흡사 부드러운 커튼을 연상케 하는 외부 스킨은 평범해 보이는 철재 소재를 사용함으로써 사뭇 경량감을 더한다. 알루미늄 소재이지만 접히고 굴곡지게 처리함으로써 패브릭의 장점을 극대화하였고 표면의 천공을 통해 빛의 은은한 소통을 내외부 공간에 전해준다. 외관을 장식하는 알루미늄 패브릭패널은 광저우 워크숍을 통해 특별히 제작된 것이다. 첫 번째 공정 단계는 직접 3D 모델을 기초로 수공예로 점토 금형을 빚었다. 이후 공압 프레스를 사용하여 주형 모양에 공기 압축방식으로 2.5mm 알루미늄 시트를 만들었다. 압축 패널들은 설치를 위해 옮겨지기 전 구멍을 뚫고 코팅했다.

이처럼 750sqm 면적에 3층 규모로 지어진 부킷 판타이 파빌리온은 조형성과 기능성을 함유한 스킨 구조를 통해 은은하게 빛을 밝혀주는 매력적인 주거공간으로 손색이 없다. ANN

>>Rafal Kapusta Rafal graduated from Cracow University of Technology in 2009 with a Masters Degree in Architecture and Urban Planning. Initially joining Grupa 68 in Poland before moving to New York to deliver a $2.5 Billion resort project in Atlantic City for Arquitectonica. Excited by the possibilities emerging from the urbanisation of Asia, Rafal moved to Singapore in 2011 to work on a wide range of large high profile mixed use developments. He was a responsible for design leadership on a number of projects across Asia including Shekou Financial Centre, Shenzen China. Rafal founded +OOZN in 2013 along with Stephanie Gunawan. The team quickly built upon the success of their first collaboration to develop a portfolio of award winning projects.

Stephanie’s has been instrumental in expanding company presence across the Asia, in both established and emerging markets. Since company inception she has been at the forefront in establishing new business relations internationally and reinforcing +OOZN strong presence in Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia. Stephanie’s previously lead the design of a large scale projects throughout Indonesia at Image Qreator and worked several years in Singapore designing and delivering large scale projects including Marina South Masterplanning for Design Link Architects and Surbana International.
