역사적 도시 충칭을 인문학적 배경을 매력적인 디자인으로 담아낸 중수거 서점(Chongqing Zhongshuge Bookstore)

“책을 읽고 자신의 삶을 이해하며, 다른 사람들을 만나기 좋은 특별한 장소”

2개 층에 걸쳐 펼쳐진 서점은 계단형 독서 공간을 중심에 두고 배치된 공간의 수직적 확장성과 투영성을 입체감 있게 반영해 

3천여 년의 오래된 역사를 간직한 매력적인 중국 남서부의 도시 충칭에 이색적인 서점이 들어섰다. 상하이에 본사를 둔 엑스플러스리빙이 선보인 1300㎡ 규모의 충칭 중수거 서점이다.

중국 쓰촨 성에 있는 충칭은 양쯔강과 자링강이 만나는 곳에 위치하며, 세계에서 가장 큰 내륙의 산과 강을 포함한 지역이다. 일찍이 충칭은 송나라 때 중경부에 속하였으며, 이곳의 풍경과 수많은 유적지는 많은 고대 작가들과 서예가들이 모여들게 만들었다.

충칭 양지아핑의 상업지구 조디광장 3, 4층에 위치한 중수거 서점은 “책을 읽고 자신의 삶을 이해하며, 다른 사람들을 만나기 좋은 특별한 장소”로 인기가 높다. 엑스플러스리빙의 총괄디자이너인 리샹은 “중수거 서점을 찾은 방문객들이 좋은 책, 새로운 책을 읽을 수 있을 뿐만 아니라, 같은 관심사를 가진 친구들이 자유롭게 만나 교류할 수 있기를 바란다”고 밝혔다. 

중수거 서점의 외관은 글씨로 덮인 단순한 유리 파사드로 방문객들을 맞이한다. 2개 층에 걸쳐 매끄럽게 펼쳐진 서점 공간은 계단형 독서 공간을 중심에 두고 3층은 부티크 리딩, 레저 리딩, 키즈 리딩 공간으로, 4층은 부티크 리딩, 커피 리딩 공간으로 구성한다. 서점을 찾은 고객이 내부로 들어서면 로비 곳곳에 흩어져 있는 램프의 갓 모양의 짙은 갈색 책장과 마주한다. 

방문객들은 마치 등잔불 안에서 은은하게 투영된 따뜻한 빛 속에서 편안하게 책을 읽는 것처럼 밝고 따뜻한 개인 서재에 온 듯한 느낌을 부여받게 된다. 램프 갓 형상을 한 로비 한쪽의 오브제형 책장이 복도를 따라 연속적으로 뻗어 있고 사뭇 조용한 복도형 독서 공간이 이어진다. 다소곳이 높인 책꽂이는 역동적인 책의 터널을 형성하고 바닥면에 반사되어 사뭇 공간의 깊이를 더해준다. 로비 한쪽에 마련된 키즈 독서실은 충칭의 풍경과 건물, 교통시설의 그림이 화려한 컬러로 책장과 어우러져 있어 정겹다. 아이들은 잠시 동안이지만 이곳에서 앉아 책을 읽으며 충칭 도시의 매력에 흠뻑 빠질 수 있게 된다. 복도와 키즈 독서실을 더 따라가다 보면 2배로 확장된 계단식 홀이 나타난다. 상부 천장이 거울로 반사되어 공간의 확장을 느낄 수 있어 제법 신선하다. 방문객은 중첩되고 연속된 계단에 앉아 책을 보기도 하고 휴식을 취할 수 있다. 

계단형 독서홀은 4층까지 수직으로 이어져 공간의 풍성함을 더한다. 그 옆에 자리한 커피 리딩 공간과 부티크 리딩 공간은 커피향이나 좋은 차의 맛을 즐길 수 있고, 독서로 색다른 사연의 고요한 세계에 몰입할 수 있는 곳이다. 주변에 있는 '전등 갓 모양의 책꽂이'는 흩어져 있는 부스를 형성해 방문객들이 친구들과 모여 재미있게 책을 읽고 자유롭게 여가를 즐길 수 있다. 넓은 독서실에는 위대한 정신의 작품들이 책을 통해 펼쳐져 있고 방문객들의 눈은 사뭇 영적 세계를 풍요로워진다. ANN

As one of the world’s largest inland city of mountains and rivers, Chongqing is a city full of surprises and wonderful and charming corners. Since ancient times, its landscape and numerous historical sites have attracted many ancient writers and calligraphers. Until today, Chongqing is still a city of attraction to everyone.

Located on the 3rd and 4th Floor of Zodi Plaza, Yangjiaping, the Chongqing Zhongshuge greets visitors with a simple glass facade covered with text. Once inside, scattered “lampshade-shaped bookshelves” are found throughout the dark brown lobby. Visitors can feel as if they were in a bright and warm private study when they read in the warm light projected from inside the lampshades.

On one corner of the lampshade-shaped lobby is a quiet reading corridor, with bookshelves extending down the hallway. The bookshelves reflect on the ground and form a tunnel of books that beckons visitors to follow it deeper into the space and knowledge. On the other corner of the lobby is the children’s reading room, where the bookshelves are built colorful with drawn Chongqing’s landscape, buildings and transportation. Children may feel like in the charming Chongqing while reading in this room.

Further down the corridor and the children’s reading room is the main study, a “ladder hall” where the stair double as bookshelves and the mirrored ceiling overhead doubles the size of the already astonishing room. The space allows visitors to rest on the shelved steps and be immersed in books and thoughts.

Up to the 4th floor from the “ladder hall” is a leisure area, where visitors can enjoy the aroma of coffee or a taste of good tea and immerse themselves into a tranquil world of different stories by reading. The “lampshade-shaped bookshelves” around create scattered booths at this area, in which visitors may gather with friends to have fun reading and enjoy their leisure time. Connected to the leisure area is the extensive reading hall, where works of great minds are listed and visitors are able to broaden their eyes and enrich their spiritual world.

Zhongshuge Bookstore is a good place to read books, understand one’s life and meet others. It is hoped that visitors to it can not only read good and new books, but also meet friends of the same interests.
