아름다운 자연의 경관을 감상할 수 있는 열린 빌라, 스페인 발렌시아의 호프만하우스(HOFMANN HOUSE) 03

투명한 유리 박스 위에 캔틸레버형으로 떠 있는 역동적인 T자형 구조체… 절제된 건축언어를 통해 조망성과 투명성, 단순성을 극대화한 개방된 열린 주거 공간

호프만하우스는 스페인 발렌시아의 아름다운 풍경과 드넓은 바다를 배경을 들어선 모던한 단독빌라이다. 스페인의 저명한 설계회사인 프란 실베스트레 아키텍츠가 설계한 건물은 극도로 절제된 건축언어로 주변 환경과 조화를 이루는 단순성을 보여주고 있다.

녹지를 기반으로 들어선 언덕 위에 350m² 면적에 2층 규모로 지어진 빌라는 외관을 형성하고 있는 T자형의 지붕과 벽 구조이다. 안정된 콘크리트를 기반층을 토대로 한껏 올린 철골조의 구조는 흡사 캔틸레버 형태로 공중에 떠 있는 모습을 자아낸다. 길게 정원을 향해 뻗어있는 평평한 지붕은 상부로 올라간 한쪽 벽체와 만나면서 절묘한 수평·수직적 매스의 흐름을 이어간다.

상부층의 내부 공간 전체를 덮고 있는 수평 지붕은 스페인의 강렬한 햇볕을 차단하기 위한 장치로 작용한다. T자형 구조체 하부는 투명한 글래스월로 마감되어 캔틸레버 기능을 강화하며 외부의 수려한 경관을 바라보기 위한 최적의 조망 뷰를 제공한다. 아래쪽 주거영역 역시 ㄱ자형 구조에 투명한 유리박스가 끼워진 형태로 상층부와 연속된 개방성을 추구한다. 전체적으로 내외부 공간 마감은 대리석을 활용한 화이트 톤으로 투명한 유리와 어우러져 신비로움을 자아내기에 충분하다. 주거공간과 자연스러운 레벨을 통해 매끄럽게 연결된 테라스를 따라 수영장이 전면으로 이어져 멋진 풍광을 즐기며 휴식을 취할 수 있게 만들어준다.

직방형으로 넓게 구획된 평면은 투명한 유리 월 안에 거실과 주방, 침실과 사무공간으로 적절히 구분되어 공간의 조망성과 사용자의 편의성을 동시에 추구한다. 주택의 후면은 T자형 구조체가 일부 벽면으로 이어져 주변 조망은 물론 실내 공간으로의 알맞은 자연광을 유입시킨다. 하부 공간으로의 이동은 내부 계단을 통해 이어지며 이처럼 호프만하우스는 T자형의 역동적인 구조체를 투명한 유리 박스 위에 얹혀 놓은 독특한 기하학적 구조와 자연을 감상할 수 있는 열린 구조로 거주자의 자유로운 라이프스타일에 묘한 공간적 에너지를 부여하기에 충분하다. A consolidated landscape surrounded by gardens, a large and elongated plot with a distant view of the sea and a pleasant breeze. This is the searched and lucky starting point trigger of this story.

Three elements make up the project. An extruded cover in the longitudinal direction of the ground with a "T" shape is the framework in which space is inhabited. This geometry let us feel the sea, protecting from prying eyes, having the sense of living without neighbors. It helps control the southern sun during summer and lets it pass in winter. The walkable roof becomes a sort of belvedere enjoying the entire surface of the plot.

An exempt cabinet houses the structure, distributes spaces and filters privacy, opening up possibilities in the way of movement and use of space. The main room, shaded by the cantilever is arranged in continuity with the outside. The interior of the unit includes wetted parts and limits the scale of overnight areas that are located in the quiet part of the garden. The study opens on the corner with the best views.

These two elements, cover and cabinet are deposited on the stone base where the water level and other uses of the house are dug. These spaces are adapted to the natural slope that exists in the plot.

The scale of the house is moderated by understanding the living area as a base to emerge with the same natural stone which urbanizes part of the plot. On this base the sleeping area is deposited, creating shaded terraces where enjoying the outdoors.

A noticeably square plan, which covers an extensive range of uses in a compact area, is drawn. The staircase and the inner atrium distribute the spaces, prioritizing uses, with all spaces opened to the garden.

The approach to each project arises from a double compromise: the will to give a technical response to a specific context and the desire to find beauty through the built work, pursuing the satisfaction of those involved in its development. Specially of the users, but also of the collaborators, constructors and designers. In the professional career of the firm we can find very diverse types of buildings. Some works undertaken with high budget, and some of them with a low budget, but in every case great attention has been paid to the economy, without any waste. Another feature of the process is continuity, with the surrounding which we must respect, but also understood from a time-space point of view, valuing the architecture that is able to survive the passing of time without becoming obsolete. There is an emphasis placed on the use of innovation. New materials, new technologies, which improve people’s lives. Also, precision is one of the keys for this work method. It requires a focused and attentive activity throughout the whole process, from the initial idea to its completion. As the project becomes part of the identity of those who inhabit it, dialogue is always present. It is an unequivocal expression of their personality or corporative culture. And finally, the team. The excellence in design is based in the integration of a network of professionals that agree on their passion for their work. A team that creates an environment of shared creativity capable of generating a continuous motivation, taking care of what is still in progress and excited for what is yet to come.
