건물 내부로의 무한한 확장성과 개방성을 통해 사용자들의 적극적인 소통을 이끌어줘

2004년 여성으로는 최초로 건축 최고의 상인 프리츠커 상을 수상한 이라크 출신의 세계적인 건축가 자하 하디드가 모스크바에 또 하나의 독특한 오피스빌딩을 디자인하였다.




 

바닥면적 21,184㎡, 최고 높이 36.27m에 지상 7층, 지하 2층 규모로 들어선 건물은 실험적이면서도 유기적인 공간으로 정평이 나있는 자하 하디드의 독창적인 디자인을 효과적으로 보여준다. 모스크바의 남동쪽 산업지역과 주거지역이 밀집된 IT지역에 들어선 건물은 트램과 트롤리버스 정거장이 있는 두브로브카역과 인접해 있다.

건물의 외형은 마치 적층된 지층을 보는 듯 수평적 흐름을 연속적으로 매끄럽게 이어간다. 빠르게 레일 위를 흘러가는 트램의 속도감은 고스란히 건물로 전해진다. 전체적인 매스는 도시와 교통 시설과 인접한 대지의 특성을 그대로 건물에 반영하고 각각의 층에서 주변의 도시 풍경을 조망할 수 있도록 수평 창을 통해 개방적인 모양새를 취한다. 반듯한 사각형 대지 위에 들어선 건물을 에워싸는 수평적인 띠의 흐름은 굽어지기도 하고 튀어나옴으로써 다이내믹한 외관을 형성한다.

도미니온 오피스빌딩을 빛나게 해주는 건축요소는 수직적 판을 통해 전개된 중앙의 아트리움이라고 할 수 있다. 커다란 사각의 매스 속에 비어있지만 다시 작은 사각의 보이드 공간이 존재하는 셈이다. 보는 사람으로 하여금 극적인 긴장감마저 연출하게 만드는 내부 아트리움은 7층 높이로 보이드되어 있고 천창을 통해 자연광을 모든 층에 골고루 분산시켜 주고 있다. 중앙 아트리움의 수직적인 동선을 이어주는 계단은 언뜻 보기에 랜덤하게 보이지만 각층의 발코니와 절묘하게 연결되어 내부공간을 더욱 긴밀하게 이어주고 있다. 1층 바닥면으로부터 시작된 계단은 오직 블랙 앤 화이트를 통해 더욱 깊이감이 느껴지며 상부로 상승하는 이미지를 북돋아주기에 충분하다. 이러한 특별한 아트리움은 이 건물이 IT와 창의적인 산업의 스타트업 회사들로 채워지기 때문에 방문객들과 사용자들로 하여금 다른 유형의 회사와의 컬래버레이션과 리서치 문화를 엮어주기 위한 건축적 장치로 인식된다.

건축미학적 풍요로움을 한 가득 머금고 있는 커다란 아트리움과 이를 연결하는 계단과 발코니는 이용자들의 오픈 마인드를 고조시키는 동시에 건물 내 직원들 사이의 적극적인 소통을 강화시켜 준다. 크고 작은 회사들에게 많은 가능성을 제공하기 위해 사무실은 가급적 표준형의 직선으로 된 구역의 체계 내에 단조롭게 정렬되어 있다. 바닥판은 건물의 반대쪽 사이에 균형을 잡아주고 있다. 여기에 공공 공간을 확장시켜주기 위해 몇몇 구역의 기둥은 제거되었고 그 사이를 햇볕으로 채워 넣었다.

도미니온 오피스 빌딩의 내부 공간은 오피스 공간과 레스토랑, 컨퍼런스 시설이 조화를 이루며 들어서 있다. 이러한 빌딩 디자인은 자하 하디드 건축의 물이 흐르는 듯한 일련의 연속된 중첩과 짜임으로 인해 엮어진 유기적 구조의 연속된 개념을 잘 드러내고 있다. 내부공간에 함축되어 잘 보여지듯 건물 내부로의 무한한 확장성과 개방성을 통해 오피스공간의 창의적인 가능성을 효과적으로 보여주고 있는 셈이다. ANN

Located in Moscow’s Sharikopodshipnikovskaya Street, next to tram and trolley bus stops and near Dubrovka Station on the Lyublinskaya Line of the Moscow Metro, the Dominion Office Building is among the first of the new projects to be built for the growing creative and IT sectors in this primarily industrial and residential district in the southeast of the city.

Conceived as a series of vertically stacked plates off-set at each level with connecting curved elements, a central atrium rises through all levels to bring natural light into the centre of the building. Balconies at each level project into the atrium and correspond to the displacement of the outer envelope and a series of staircases interconnect through this central space.

With the ground floor restaurant linking the atrium to the outdoor terrace and Sharikopodshipnikovskaya Street beyond, and coffee/snack areas and relaxation zones on the balconies, the atrium becomes a shared space over many levels that encourages interaction between the employees of the companies within the building. This integration also encourages collaboration between companies of different services and disciplines. Many IT and creative industry start-up companies regard this collective research culture as vital for progress and development, and the design of the Dominion Office Building reinforces this concept with open connectivity throughout the building.

The office spaces are arranged within a system of standard rectilinear bays to offer many different possibilities for small, expanding or large companies. Located on the periphery of the atrium and housing the lifts, fire-escapes, washrooms and service shafts, the service cores provide a degree of privacy to the separate office spaces, with gaps in-between these cores giving some transparency and allowing light to penetrate the into the office areas from the central shared atrium space. This service core ring around the atrium, together with an additional bay of columns close to the outer envelope of the building, provides the structure. The off-set floor-plates are balanced between the opposite sides of the building. In some zones, columns are removed and replaced with transfer beams to increase the uninterrupted floor space for larger tenants or public programmes.

Zaha Hadid, founder of Zaha Hadid Architects, was awarded the Pritzker Architecture Prize(considered the Nobel Prize of architecture) in 2004 and is internationally known for her built, theoretical and academic work. Each of her projects builds on over thirty years of exploration and research in the interrelated field of urbanism, architecture and design. Hadid studied mathematics at the American University of Beirut before moving to London in 1972 to attend the Architectural Association(AA) School where she was awarded the Diploma Prize in 1977.

Patrik Schumacher_ Director, Dr Phil, Dipl Ing, ARB, RIBA

Patrik has been with our practice since 1988. He is a company director and out Senior Designer, involved alongside Zaha Hadid herself in all projects we undertake. He maintains an active role in the development throughout the design phases. Patrik studied architecture at the University of Stuttgart and at the Southbank University in Lodon. He Completed his architectural diploma and received his degree Dipl Ing from Stuttgart University in 1990. He also studied philosophy at Bonn and Lodon Universities. In 1999, he received his PhD at the institute for Cultural Sciences at the University of Klagenfurt.
