잔디 위의 조약돌을 형상화해...

건축가는 20여 년 전부터 존재하고 있었던 기존 집에서 연장된 엔터테인먼트 공간으로 풀하우스를 계획하였다. 집의 형상은 마치 넓게 펼쳐진 잔디 위에 놓인 조약돌을 연상케 한다. 겉으로 보기에 자갈형태의 집은 굵고 튼튼한 콘크리트 프레임이 연결되어 하나의 형태로 인식되며 내부는 투명하게 마감되어 있는 것이 특색 있다.

집의 프레임은 곡면으로 처리되어 불쑥 자연에 들어선 집이 자연과 조화로울 수 있음을 추구한다. 마치 잔디 위에 자갈 하나만 놓인 모습을 상상하며 집을 디자인한 건축가의 참신한 아이디어는 멋진 수영장과 조화를 이루는 뉴델리 풀하우스만의 차별성을 이끌어낸다.

외관을 형성하는 C자형 프레임은 압축응력을 활용한 견고한 캔틸레버형 콘크리트로 만들어졌다. 2개의 서로 다른 인공적인 프레임이 가운데로 모아지고 그 속살은 맑고 경쾌하다. 투명한 유리를 통해 내부를 비추는 동시에 서로 반대편에 조성된 잔디와 풀장의 흐름을 매끄럽게 이어준다. 집의 중심에 자리한 서비스 코어는 우드로 마감되어 있어 콘크리트와 자연스러운 조합을 보여준다.

내부 공간 역시 외부와 같이 콘크리트 매스의 연속성을 이어가며 스크린과 장치를 감추기 위한 우드패널이 천장과 벽면에 마감되어 있다. 화장실에는 대리석을 골재로 한 테라초 캐스트로 마감되어 자연친화성을 시도하였다. 이처럼 풀하우스는 최소한의 재료인 콘크리트와 나무를 사용해 단순하면서도 볼륨감 있는 디자인을 만들어냈다는데 좋은 평가를 얻고 있다. ANN
